State Representative Doug Wozniak, R-Shelby Township, chaired a meeting of the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) this week, overseeing testimony on two significant rulesets affecting Michigan’s construction and energy codes. Stakeholders from various industries provided input both in support and opposition to the proposed regulations.

The two rulesets under discussion were:

  • JCAR 25-20 (MOAHR No. 2022-16LR) – Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Construction Codes – Construction Codes, Part 5: Residential Code.
  • JCAR 25-19 (MOAHR No. 2021-48LR) – Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Construction Codes – Construction Code, Part 10: Michigan Uniform Energy Code.

“I was pleased to chair this week’s JCAR hearing, where we had the opportunity to listen to stakeholders share their perspectives on these important rules,” said Wozniak. “Public input is essential in shaping regulations that serve the best interests of Michigan residents. As chair, I am committed to ensuring that our state’s framework is transparent, effective, and responsive to the people’s needs.”
