State Rep. David Martin will serve as Republican vice chair of the House Natural Resources, Environment, Tourism and Outdoor Recreation Committee during the 2023-24 legislative session. He will also serve on the Economic Development and Small Business Committee.

Martin, R-Davison, said he will stay true to his hometown values and continue acting as a voice for the people of Genesee and Oakland counties.

“The people I serve want our small businesses to thrive and they care deeply about our state’s natural resources and its tourism and outdoor recreation industries,” Martin said. “I’m looking forward to serving as their voice on these topics and all of the other issues we address at the Capitol.”

Martin noted he will be one of just three Republican legislators serving on the Natural Resources, Environment, Tourism and Outdoor Recreation Committee, while Democrats have six legislators on the committee. On the Economic Development and Small Business Committee, Martin will be one of five Republicans serving on the committee with eight Democrats.

“I will look for opportunities to find common ground, but I also won’t hesitate to speak up if others propose extreme policies that I know the people in our community would not support,” Martin said.
