Representative will also play key role on House Oversight Committee
State Rep. Jaime Greene, R-Richmond, has been named chair of the Michigan House Communications and Technology Committee for the 2025-26 legislative term, where she will lead efforts to advance cybersecurity, broadband expansion, and the responsible development of artificial intelligence (AI) in Michigan.
“As a Navy cryptologist, my job was to secure our nation’s most critical communications and protect sensitive information from cyber threats,” Greene said. “Now, as chair of the Communications and Technology Committee, I’ll bring that same commitment to safeguarding Michigan’s digital infrastructure, expanding high-speed internet access, and ensuring AI is developed responsibly. Technology is evolving rapidly, and we must ensure our policies keep up to protect families, businesses, and our state’s economy.”
Before serving in the Legislature, Greene worked in network administrator roles where she managed digital security and communications. She plans to use her technical expertise to help Michigan tackle pressing issues, such as protecting critical data, expanding broadband access to underserved areas, and ensuring AI development prioritizes security, transparency, and job growth.
In addition to leading the Communications and Technology Committee, Greene’s role on the House Oversight Committee will allow her to scrutinize state government operations, hold agencies accountable, and advocate for more responsible use of taxpayer dollars.
As vice chair of the Oversight Subcommittee on Corporate Subsidies and State Investments, she will push for transparency and effectiveness in how Michigan allocates economic development funds. Meanwhile, her position on the Oversight Subcommittee on Public Health and Food Security will allow her to review state policies impacting public food and health programs and look for ways to better support the state’s agriculture industry.
“Our state government has a duty to be transparent, efficient, and accountable to the people of Michigan,” Greene said. “Through my work on the Oversight Committee, I’ll fight to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and that government programs truly serve the people they’re intended to help.”
